As we reach the midpoint of the year, it's an exciting time to reflect on some of the standout digital out-of-home (DOOH) ad creatives in Canada. Here are some of our favourite ad creatives from brands that have truly resonated with consumers across the Great White North.


Uber Eats: Get Almost Anything

Uber Eats: Get Almost Anything

Uber Eats launched a DOOH campaign showcasing the versatility of its app, while humourously presenting items that can't be ordered. The creative was funny and to the point, featuring clever visuals and witty messages that captured attention and entertained viewers. This campaign demonstrated how to effectively use OOH advertising by combining humour with clear messaging to engage consumers and promote the app's value in a memorable way.

 

Alberta Women Entrepreneurs: Dare to Transform  

AWE: Dare to Transform

Rising inflation and cost-of-living has led to diminishing entrepreneurship across Canada. To address this, the Alberta Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), a not-for-profit organization supporting woman entrepreneurs, saw an opportunity to expand its reach nationally and recruit more members. Teaming up with Vistar Media, AWE launched a DOOH campaign targeting female small business owners who generated less than $500k in revenue. The initiative aimed to raise awareness, consideration and sign-up intent for AWE’s BOLD Leadership program. BOLD, a live webinar-style program, is designed to help women entrepreneurs rethink their digital strategy and implement technologies to improve business performance nationally. The results of the campaign were astounding, with a 273% increase in sign-up intent!

 

Scotiabank: Newcomer Advice

Scotiabank: Newcomer Advice

Scotiabank launched an OOH campaign with the goal of increasing awareness, consideration and intent for their StartRight program, a banking package designed specifically for newcomers to Canada. The campaign aimed to get in front of those new to Canada, grabbing attention in major Canadian cities through a family-oriented, helping-hand type of messaging. By strategically placing these messages in high-traffic areas, Scotiabank effectively engaged potential clients and promoted their Canadian newcomer services. 

 

Mitsubishi: S-AWC

Mitsubishi: S-AWC

Concerns around driving safety mount as seasons change and extreme weather events are prevalent across Canada. Drivers need a vehicle they can rely on in harsh weather conditions to feel safer on the roads. Mitsubishi launched a strategic DOOH campaign to increase awareness, consideration and purchase intent for the S-AWC. The S-AWC, which stands for Super All-Wheel Control, is a vehicle that is well-suited for driving in rough weather, offering enhanced safety, stability, and control. The brand built different creative variations of its ad messaging that automatically changed based on the local weather. Ads spoke to weather conditions including wind, rain or snow – driving the message home that S-AWC vehicles can handle the roads no matter the weather condition.  The campaign achieved remarkable results, with the most notable achievements being a +57% increase in brand consideration and +137% increase in purchase intent!

 

Uniprix: Simplify Your Life

Uniprix: Simplify Your Life

Uniprix, a leading pharmacy in Quebec, set out on a mission to become Quebecers’ one-stop shop for all their personal health needs. They launched an OOH campaign designed to drive awareness and increase foot traffic to their pharmacy locations. A combination of video and static ads ran across multiple venue types across the province including billboards, urban panels, transit stations, malls, subways and gas stations. The ad messaging is Uniprix is there to help their customers simplify their life and improve their overall wellbeing.
